OSHA PARTICIPATES IN INVERNESS PRESBYTERIAN’S CAREER DAY

On Wednesday 20th November, 2024, representatives from the OSH Agency participated in a “Career Day” event at the Inverness Presbyterian School located in Upper Barrackpore. The event, which was held in recognition of Universal Children’s Day, aimed to motivate the students to improve their literacy and numeracy capabilities while being given the opportunity to interact with professionals from various industries.

This was a great opportunity for the Occupational Safety & Health Agency as it aligns with the organisation’s outreach programme. Children at the school were given the opportunity to speak to three representatives from the OSH Agency about the criteria required to enter the safety and health industry; Safety & Health Inspector I; Mr. Tazim Salim, Safety & Health Inspector I., Ms. Nadia Boodoosingh and Safety and Health Inspector II, Ms. Nisha Baksh.

It is never too early for safety and health education. Teaching children about safety and health is essential for their well-being and development. By learning safety practices, such as recognising hazards, following rules, and understanding emergency procedures, children can better protect themselves in various environments, from school to home. Health education fosters lifelong habits. These lessons not only reduce the risk of accidents and illnesses but also empower children to make informed decisions, build their confidence and contribute positively to society. Early education in safety and health lays a foundation for a safer, healthier future.

OSHA remains committed to protecting the safety and health of all persons in Trinidad and Tobago through sensitisation and enforcement if the OSH Act.
