OSHA moves to new St. Augustine office

In today’s fast-evolving workplace landscape, organisations must continually adapt to new challenges, streamline operations, and optimise resources. The OSH Agency has participated in one such adaptation through its relocation of the Agency’s offices from its Alexandra and Duke Street locations to its new St. Augustine office. This new location not only offers a change of environment for staff members but will contribute to the creation of a unified work environment. It will also enable the Agency to hire more staff members.

For an Agency focused on safety and health, this new location presents an opportunity to showcase best practices in occupational health. The design of the office prioritises ergonomic workstations, adequate ventilation, optimal lighting and safe emergency exit routes. By adhering to these standards internally, the Agency sets an example for others to follow, aligning its work environment with its mandate. Additionally, this consolidation will prove to be more cost effective in comparison to having two separate locations.

The new location currently houses fifty five staff members inclusive of the Inspectorate and its support staff. Other departments include, Human Resources, Communications and Outreach, Legal, Research, Planning & Development, Information Technology, Purchasing and Finance. This four story building located on the corner of the eastern main road and St. John’s road, provides ease of access for both staff and members of the public. Members of the public can visit this location anytime between the hours of 8am and 4pm and lodge complaints related to safety and health. All complaints unless specified differently, remain anonymous.

In addition to a physical upgrade, the Agency has also expanded its digital capabilities with its new website. This website offers more online resources, allowing the public to access important information and support. Ultimately, the Agency moving to this new location reflects it’s forward thinking approach. It is an investment in its long term ability to serve the public and stay ahead of health and safety challenges. The OSHA remains committed to protecting the safety and health of all persons in Trinidad and Tobago through sensitization and enforcement of the OSH act.
